Panzweiler

Historic local church

Panzweiler is a small community in the Hunsrück. The chapel in the village was built in 1792 and dedicated to St. John. The simple solid construction has nine round-arched windows, a round-arched portal and a slated bell tower. The high altar with John the Baptist statue is built-in Louis XVI's style. On the altar are the statues of Saint Catherine and Saint Barbara.

Also worth seeing are the two Madonnas and a figure of Saint Joseph. The two bells from the 14th and 15th centuries have been preserved until today. The parish is connected to the surrounding villages by the "Kirchspiel-Wanderweg" (parish hiking trail). It offers numerous opportunities for short and extended hikes.
