With slopes like those in the high mountains, wine production here has been backbreaking work for 2,000 years. Back then, Roman settlers used the southern slopes of the river valleys for viticulture for the first time - and began to shape a unique wine cultural landscape. Today, young generations of winemakers produce distinctive, world-class wines.
