Altstrimmig

On excellent hiking trails

Altstrimmig is a small idyllic community on a ridge of the Rhenish Slate Mountains in northern Hunsrück. Together with the villages of Mittelstrimmig, Liesenich and Forst, Altstrimmig belongs to the "Strimmiger Berg". In the centre of the village is St. Antonius's church, which, together with several renovated half-timbered houses, forms a harmonious whole. You can also discover the old, still fully functional mill.

One of the three starting points for the "Layensteig Strimmiger-Berg" dream trail is near Altstrimmig. The 13.8-kilometre circular trail, certified by the German Hiking Institute, impresses with its winding paths and natural stream valleys. Three challenging climbing routes, which can also be bypassed on wide paths, lead to breathtaking vantage points.
