The ferry connects the wine village of Briedel with the opposite bank towards Zell and is today mainly a popular attraction for tourists, cyclists, and hikers.
The ferry is a motorized Mosel ferry that transports pedestrians, bicycles, and also cars. It was built in 1967 and is one of the larger ferries on the Mosel. In the past, it was essential for vintners to reach their vineyards on the other side of the river – today, it serves more for excursion traffic and local recreation.
