The ferry connects the wine village of Pünderich with the opposite side of the Moselle beneath the Marienburg. The ferry station is located on the Moselle bank near the campsite.
The ferry transports pedestrians, cyclists, as well as cars and agricultural vehicles and was once essential for winemakers to reach their vineyards on the opposite bank of the river, while today it is also very popular among hikers and tourists.
