Scenic road bike route from Zell on the Mosel to the rugged heights of the Hunsrück.
A short warm-up awaits from Zell along the Mosel before the 20 km long climb with 450 m elevation gain into the Hunsrück. After a ride through the hilly landscape, enjoy a great descent into the Altlayer Bach valley. From there, the last kilometers can be rolled comfortably.
From Zell on the Mosel, the route follows the Mosel to Briedel and from there over Briedeler Heck to Raversbeuren in the Hunsrück. The route is rolling via Würich, Belg, Rödelhausen, and Löffelscheid before the descent into Altlayer begins in Peterswald. Down the valley, it goes back to Zell.
Observe traffic rules, be aware of other road users, and ride at a speed adapted to the conditions, especially on descents. Be considerate of other cyclists and pedestrians on bike paths.
Enjoy the view towards the Mosel valley on the ascent via Briedeler Heck.
From the A 61 coming from Mainz, take the B50 at Rheinböllen towards Kirchberg and then the B421 to Zell. From Cologne, take the A 61 via Mendig to Mayen and continue via the A 48 to the Kaisersesch exit towards Cochem.
