Spring hiking tip: Vine peach blossom route from Eller via Bremm to Neef
Welcome to the main growing area of the red Mosel vine peach!
Experience the blossom of the legendary Mosel fruit at one of the most beautiful bends of the Mosel valley. Mid-March to early April is the best time for this. Here, over two thousand peach trees bloom in delicate pink.
From the station in Ediger-Eller head in the direction of the Mosel and under the bridge. Follow the agricultural road along the hillside past the fruit trees. Then cross the street and take the riverside path on the Mosel side. Here and on the opposite slopes, you can already see pink peach trees. Along the Mosel, the path passes the steepest vineyard in Europe and the ruins of Stuben monastery. In Bremm, take the pedestrian underpass into the village and then uphill through the Mosel-typical lanes following signs to the Calmont climbing trail up to a blue residential house. From there, turn left uphill (there the Dreis family sells peach products from a vending machine 24/7) and then immediately left again. The path leads behind the picturesque village past numerous fruit and vine plantations. At the hiking hut, cross the street and take the middle path on the hillside. Here on the north slope between Bremm and Neef, over two thousand vine peach trees grow. The map on the reverse shows the way, offering wonderful views and photo spots. An extra loop on the slope is possible and worth it. Continue over the bridge to Neef and then immediately in a curve down to the Mosel riverbank, where the peach trees bloom early. Go left up from the festival square into Alte Kirchstraße. Opposite the small medieval church tower is the Pfirsichhof, where you can buy delicious products at the storefront or farm shop. From there, it is about 150 meters uphill to Neef station. Trains stop every hour at the stations in Eller and Neef.
