Traditional winter hike around the Mosel town of Bernkastel-Kues. The Nicholas hike starts at the historic market square in Bernkastel.

The start is on Sunday, 01.12.2024 at the historic market square in Bernkastel-Kues. After check-in and festive, musical opening, the hike begins. Other stations along the way include the spa park on the Kues plateau - with mulled wine and punch break - at the most beautiful wine view Lieser - photo shoot with Nicholas, the Rosenberghütte - with warm soup. The participation fee is 14 euros for adults, 9 euros for children aged 4 to 9. The ticket price includes mulled wine/punch, warm soup, parking ticket, and a surprise.

General information

Directions

From the market square in Bernkastel, you cross the Mosel bridge to the district of Kues. At the bridge intersection, turn sharply right onto Cusanusstraße, then left, through Beethovenstraße and through the streets of Kues. The hike continues along Bergweg and Rebschulweg before turning sharply right back onto Bergweg. Then the path goes through the forest, on the street "Am Rosenberg". The spa park is reached. The panoramic street continues on the plateau. On the Moselhöhenweg, past the Moselhöhe spa clinic, the plateau is partially circled. At the end of this round, the Rosenberghütte is reached. After visiting it, return through the streets of Kues to the market square. 

Safety Guidelines

It can also snow in winter. The paths can be slippery. Act accordingly.

Equipment

If you like, bring a backpack, but there is food and mulled wine and/or tea available along the way.

Tip

Don't forget your camera: there are beautiful views along the way. 

Getting there

From Wittlich on L 52 and K 57. Passing through Platten, past Wehlen, Zeltingen, and Graach.

Parking

Parking is available at the large Mosel parking lot on both the Bernkastel and Kues sides, directly on the Mosel. Parking is free during the winter months; from Easter until December 31st, parking fees apply.
