A short, informative bee nature trail about 60 meters long, featuring rotating panels and informational stations, as well as a nice spot to rest.
On the bee nature trail above the village of Korlingen, a rotating display panel and several small sign stations provide all the important information on the topic of “bees.” In addition, insect hotels have been installed at several locations. Special highlights include two real beehives at the end of the trail, as well as the bee feeder. This is a converted, old gum ball machine that contains capsules filled with wildflower seeds. Here, you can purchase a capsule at cost and scatter the seeds in the adjacent, plowed field.
Hikers and visitors will find an in-ground cooler with non-alcoholic beverages at a scenic rest area; these can be taken in exchange for a donation from April 1 through October 31. This is a beverage cooler sunk into the ground that uses the earth’s natural coolness. Without any electricity, drinks stay pleasantly cool. With a simple hand movement, the bottle holder slides up—conveniently and with minimal effort.
Visitors can reach the Bee Nature Trail directly by car via the street “Zur Laykaul” in Korlingen. For a short hike to the Bee Nature Trail, the “Galgenkopf” hiking parking lot above Korlingen serves as a good starting point. This is where the Galgenkopf Tour premium hiking trail and the local Ko1 loop trail begin. Follow these two trails for about 1.3 km. A sign there will then point you to the Bee Education Trail, which is only 200 m away.
This short detour to the Bee Nature Trail is therefore also a nice alternative for a rest stop with a view along these two longer loop trails.
As a general rule, you enter the forest and walk
on
the trails at your own risk.Depending on the season and weather conditions, some sections of the trails may require extra caution to maintain a secure footing. Therefore, please wear clothing appropriate for the season and weather, as well as hiking boots with adequate tread.
A picnic with a great view on a lounge chair, with a cool drink from the ground-level cooler!
To reach the nature trail directly by car, take the road "Zur Laykaul" in Korlingen. If you plan to combine this with a short hike of about 3 km, the parking lot at the "Galgenkopftour" hiking trail is a good option.
The town of Korlingen is connected to the public transit system. You can find all the relevant information and schedules at www.vrt-info.de
