Scenic circular route through the Moselle-Hunsrück: through a hilly landscape, interrupted by densely forested stream valleys.
The Moselsteig detour mostly runs on forest and meadow paths.
Insights into the hike:
Many small villages around the Hunsrück town of Kleinich have formed a parish since the Reformation, the Protestant "Kirchspiel" Kleinich. The villages are spread four to five hundred meters above the Moselle in a hilly open landscape, interrupted by densely forested stream valleys. The ups and downs of hills and valleys with many distant views and water features shape the detour "Kirchspiel's valley tour".
There are dining options by prior arrangement at the Landhaus Arnoth at the start/finish in Kleinich. Packed lunch is recommended for on the way.
Many small villages around the Hunsrück town of Kleinich have formed a parish since the Reformation, the Protestant "Kirchspiel" Kleinich. The name has remained common to this day, even after the French Revolution when the civil district corporation was established and the Kirchspiel became the municipality of Kleinich. Charming slate-clad farms and houses characterize these villages. They are spread four to five hundred meters above the Moselle in a hilly open landscape.
The start and finish of the 13-kilometer long premium hiking trail is the fire station in Kleinich. From here, you walk through forests and meadows to the small villages of Emmeroth and Pilmeroth. Then you pass the impressive Bilstein rock into the valley of the Trabener Bach. The sound of water is now a constant companion. The path soon leads along another mountain stream, the Kautenbach. This is followed by the ascent to the village of Fronhofen via a former "Eierpädchen" and an old abandoned country road. Both paths formed the direct connection from the Kirchspiel to the Moselle in earlier times and served trade exchange. Speaking of trade - in Emmeroth there is a farm shop with alpaca wool products.
No specific safety instructions.
Stable hiking shoes, possibly a rain jacket, and packed lunch are recommended.
Directly on the hiking trail, in Emmeroth, there is a farm shop with alpaca wool products.
