The Mosel Cycle Path accompanies the Moselle in all its curves and loops and a wide variety of landscapes, mostly directly near the shore. Today's tour takes you from Bernkastel-Kues via Neumagen-Dhron and Trittenheim back to Bernkastel-Kues.
You start in Bernkastel-Kues at the Mosel parking lot below the old town, from where you follow the Mosel Cycle Path upstream.
Passing the beautiful wine villages of Mülheim, Brauneberg, Wintrich and Piesport, you will reach the oldest wine village in Germany, Neumagen-Dhron, after about 25 kilometers. Here it is worth taking a short walk along the "Archaeological Trail" - at 17 stations you can see, among other things, the famous wine ship, a school scene, hairdressing scene, rent payment, etc. With the faithfully reconstructed wine ship Stella Noviomagi you can even take a little river trip on the weekend.
From Neumagen-Dhron you continue downstream to Trittenheim, where you cross the Moselle to start your way back.
Shortly before Piesport, the faithfully restored wine press bears witness to the central wine-growing importance of the town in Roman times. The bridge takes you across the Moselle in Piesport, and only a short time later you switch back to the left side of the Moselle in Minheim. Via Kesten and Lieser you finally reach your starting point Bernkastel-Kues again.
Along the route, numerous restaurants, wine taverns and wineries invite you to make a stop.
Mainly flat terrain along the Moselle. The path is mainly asphalted, in some places paved or gravelled.
