Challenging circular hike from Ockfen through the stream valley via Krohkreuz to Wiltingen. The return path runs along the riverside promenade via Schoden back to Ockfen.
Starting from the Wine Hotel Klostermühle, you can walk past the three fish ponds towards Ockfen. At the entrance to Ockfen, follow the green cycle path signs towards Irsch. Behind Ockfen, follow the G3 signs into the Ockfen stream valley. After a long ascent, you reach the "Krohkreuz". Continue hiking through the game-rich forest area at "Praweltswald" and "Jungenwald". Continuing towards Wiltingen, you will soon pass the Geispiffer Hut. Passing the reservoir pond, you now reach the wine village of Wiltingen. Once in Wiltingen, you can walk down to the Saar to use the Saar riverside path as a return route. To do this, cross the bridge in Wiltingen, then head towards Schoden. There, cross the weir to the eastern Saar side. Now walk along the Saar and soon reach Ockfen again.

Please note that this hiking trail is not a certified premium hiking trail and there is no continuous signage along the route. Furthermore, the path partly runs on paved farm roads and not on narrow trails.
Equipment
Please remember to wear sturdy footwear and bring enough provisions for your backpack.
Tip
At Krohkreuz and at the Geispiffer Hut you will find rest areas inviting you to take a break.
Getting there
From Saarburg, drive on L 138 to Ockfen.
Parking
Free parking is available at the parking lot on L 138.
Public transit
DB route from Trier to Saarbrücken to Schoden/Ockfen railway station.
