On a herb hike, we look at what our nature has to offer - from edible wild plants to medicinal herbs and toxic look-alikes. Additionally, ecology and nature conservation will be discussed using examples.
The Moselle region is not only known for viticulture but also for its diverse fauna and flora, which are sometimes unique. Many rare, protected, and endangered animal and plant species thrive on the slopes of the steep slopes. This is partly due to the interlocking of various habitats, whether banks, sunlit valleys, or adjacent forests. During a herbal hike, we will learn about the flora of the Middle Moselle in different habitats and particularly examine the world of our native plants. What can you find where, what characteristics can you use to identify the plants, and what ecological purpose do all these species serve? Of course, we will also take a look at applications that are relevant from a human perspective - which wild plants are edible, which are suitable as medicinal plants, and what toxic candidates should be kept in mind? During a varied herbal hike in Alf (Moselle), we will focus on these questions.
The route is approximately 3 km long and does not require any special fitness; unfortunately, the route is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.
