Bach in Briedel - Award-winning string musicians in the Martin's Church

Sophi Rochlin, Violin | Eike Coetzee, Viola | Syon Najman, Cello

The Martinskirche in Briedel is one of the Rococo gems in the Moselle Valley. The richly painted interior will serve as a stage for music by Johann Sebastian Bach on Sunday, May 31 at 5 PM. Award-winning young string players from the Landesstiftung Villa Musica will perform masterpieces of the Thomaskantor: violinist Sophi Rochlin from Israel interprets the first solo sonata BWV 1001, while cellist Syon Najman from Bulgaria excels in the third cello suite BWV 1009. In the trio sonata BWV 529, violist Eike Coetzee from South Africa joins in. The sonata, originally written for organ, will be heard here in an arrangement for string trio. Two romantic solo works in the spirit of Bach complete the program: a sonata for viola by Max Reger and the fourth violin sonata by Eugène Ysaÿe. With this fireworks of string virtuosity, Villa Musica will perform in Briedel for the first time. The History and Culture Association of Briedel e.V. has invited the Mainz Foundation to collaborate with the initiator and art agent Dr. Alfred Bremm from the Kulturforum Mosel. A Gesamtkunstwerk of baroque architecture, baroque music, and fantastic musicians of today, to be experienced on the last Sunday of May in Briedel on the Moselle.
