Numerous song boards invite you to pause and sing along known hiking songs on this varied circular route through vineyards and the Moselle heights around Enkirch.
The "Wanderweg der Lieder" was created in summer 2009 with the help of many hardworking hands, the campaign "Rhineland-Palatinate participates," and SWR4.
At various stations along the hiking trail, a total of twelve boards with notes and song texts were set up. Thus encouraged, hikers cannot help but stop and sing in many voices. Classics such as "Horch, was kommt von draußen 'rein" are on the "song boards" as well as regional folk songs from the Moselle. The initiator is the "Oberdorfgemeinschaft Rotte 10 and 11," who also repaired steps on the hiking trail and planted fruit trees along the path. At a rest pavilion, SWR4 garden expert Heike Boomgaarden additionally planted an herb garden for tired hiking feet.
We start at the Tourist Information in Enkirch and turn right at the junction over the bridge into the village. After a few meters, we follow the second street, "Weingasse," uphill to the left until the first turnoff to the right. Here too, we follow the path uphill along some of the most beautiful half-timbered houses in Enkirch and the Heimatstuben Museum up to the church. The church is half circled, and again slightly uphill, we follow Kirchstraße into the historic Oberdorf.
In front of the "Duckes," the old prison of Enkirch, turn right, following the state road left up to the cemetery. From here, the "Wanderweg der Lieder" follows well-developed paths through the vineyards to the viewpoint above the steep slope hiking trail, which offers a wide view over the Moselle valley and the mountains of the opposite Eifel. Now the route leads back a bit over the ridge, following the trail of the Moselsteig, to the viewpoint "Rottenblick" and back to Enkirch via the footpath.
Some sections require surefootedness. Otherwise, it is a well-walkable hiking trail.
Sturdy footwear is recommended. In summer, be sure to use adequate sun protection.
A visit to the Protestant church or the Heimatstuben Museum is worthwhile.
Don't forget your camera for the many beautiful viewpoints.
