An experience for all the senses. Right above the roofs of the Mosel village Ürzig, 160 plant species, 20 rose varieties, and numerous spices and herbs grow on a steep slope.

The Ürzig garden offers a diverse flora and fauna. Butterflies, bumblebees, and bee species take over the pollination of the plants, which thrive excellently on the warm slate soil. And: At Ürzig lies the only Mosel hill shaped by a tectonic fault and a volcanic heat cloud. Instead of Devonian slate, a variety of different rocks can be found here, with red loose rock being particularly typical. Numerous signs and rock samples along the route provide more information.

Insights into the hiking route:

In the surroundings of Ürzig, interesting geological rock formations can be seen, which are probably unique in the world in this composition. The so-called Rotliegend in its many forms meets the dark Hausrück slate of the Devonian at Ürzig. It is a fantastic world, accessible even for the inexperienced hiker. To admire are towering rock walls, plants rarely seen, viticulture under alpine conditions, and 5 different exhibited rock types in the geology garden.
