Numerous sights and idyllic landscapes await you along this bike route:
- just outside the city of Luxembourg, start your stage at the large European quarter
- the Luxembourg Müllerthal is particularly scenic
- the medieval town of Echternach invites you to take a break and linger
- the Moselle ferry "Sankta Maria II" connects Luxembourg and Germany and takes you from Wasserbillig (L) to Oberbillig (D)
The start of the bike route is just outside the gates of the city of Luxembourg. From the parking lot, you ride onto the bike path and follow the green/white signs to Echternach. The first 10 km of the bike path run through densely forested areas. After 5 km, you cross the road and turn left onto Kromschildstraße at the second street.
There, follow the green sign toward Echternach. After the Ernster sign, there is an 800 m descent with slopes between 3 and 5%. Then a 200 m climb with gradients between 5 and 8%. Pass by the sports field and keep left. Here follows a 500 m descent with a 3% gradient. At the stop sign of the bike path, turn left toward Ernster. Follow the bike path to the 800 m descent, with gradients between 1 and 2%. From Gonderange, you still have to ride a section of country road heading toward Eschweiler. After crossing the intersection, turn left after about 1 km onto the bike path toward Junglinster.
Here begins a 1 km ascent with gradients between 3 and 6%. At the entrance to Junglinster, turn right onto the bike path toward Beidweiler. Before Beidweiler, 1 km downhill with gradients between 3 and 6%. From Beidweiler Gare, there is a 500 m climb with slopes between 1 and 3%. Then a 1.3 km descent with slopes between 1 and 3%. After Beidweiler, the ride continues past Rippig to Hemsteler Gare. From Rippig, a 7.4 km climb follows with gradients between 1 and 3%. From Hemsteler Gare, the bike path is marked by round blue signs. From the café, the bike path continues to Consdorf via the Buchholz campsite.
Shortly before the campsite, you go through a tunnel that is lit. From Consdorf, you can expect an 8 km gentle descent through the beautiful Müllerthal, characterized by rocks and streams. After leaving the valley, turn left and follow the main road for a short distance. Then switch to the right side of the road, where you will meet the bike path again, which first leads you to the leisure center with a 30 ha large lake. This can also be circled by bike. Past the leisure center, continue cycling to Echternach. Here you ride over the large market square and keep right. You pass the border crossing and continue along the road to the pedestrian crossing, where you join the Sauer bike path.
From there, you cycle on the Luxembourg side via Steinheim, Rosport, Hinkel, Born, Moersdorf to Wasserbillig. Here you take the Moselle ferry "Sankta Maria II" to Oberbillig. On the Moselle bike path, you cycle past Wasserliesch to Konz.
Especially in late summer the bike path through the forest can be very slippery when wet! Risk of falling!
