The Moselle foothills in Bernkastel-Kues are an ideal starting point. If you choose Bernkastel-Kues as your starting point, the route takes you steadily uphill from the Moselle valley to the Moselle spur between Bernkastel and Trarbach. The ascent is considerable and long, but it is also the only one on the whole tour. During the ascent through the vineyards there are great views of the Moselle valley and Bernkastel-Kues to enjoy. History is not forgotten either: you will pass the "Bulles" (the former prison) and the St. Josefs chapel, among other things. Then you leave the vineyards in the direction of the Graacher Schäferei.Drive through the Graach sheep farm (the mountain half of the Moselle village of Graach) - with a short push at the end of the village. Continue on a well-maintained road up to the height of the Graach hills. The Graach redoubts are the remains of an 18th century defence system. Once you reach the top, you have an excellent view of the Eifel and Hunsrück. Then you cycle continuously downhill, back along the Moselle to Wolf. There you continue on the Moselle cycle path, upstream towards Bernkastel. On the Moselle cycle path you will pass the Moselle villages of Kinheim, Lösnich, Erden, Zeltingen-Rachtig and Graach, where there are numerous places to stop for refreshments directly on the cycle path.
Please note that the tour is not signposted. Except for a short stretch at the level of the Mosel spur, everything is asphalted. In the Graach sheep farm there is a short stretch of about 30 metres on which the bike should be pushed - due to the steepness and the narrow path.
The tour should be easy to manage with an eBike (full battery) despite the considerable ascent from the Moselle valley up. A trekking bike is ideal for sporty cyclists.
