This bike tour covers the first 40 km of the total 248 km Moselle cycle path from Perl to Konz, accompanied by audio experiences from the Lauschtour.

The Moselle cycle path is one of the most popular river cycle routes in Germany. The 4-star quality route of the ADFC leads past countless wineries and world-famous vineyards, impressive rock formations, medieval wine villages, ancient sites, and imposing castles. No other German wine-growing region offers such natural contrasts between breathtaking steep slopes and picturesque river valleys, along with a wealth of historical cultural monuments.

On this route, you cycle the first 40 km from Perl to the Saar-Moselle town of Konz.

In total, four listening points of the "Lauschtour Mosel-Radweg" line the route and are good reasons to get off your bike to take a closer look and listen.

Here’s how it works: Download the smartphone app "Lauschtour" from the App Store or Google Play, then select the Lauschtour "Moselradweg." The content is stored on your smartphone when you start, so no internet connection is needed along the way.

General information

Directions

The route starts at the train station in Perl and runs to Konz entirely along the right, German bank of the Moselle. However, there is always a view over to Luxembourg, as the Moselle forms the border between the European neighboring states along the entire section. The paved cycle path runs without inclines through the broad valley of the Upper Moselle. A special feature is the crossing of the nature reserve "Pferdemosel" between Besch and Nennig, which in an old Moselle arm provides refuge and breeding opportunities for many rare bird species. The landscape is increasingly characterized by vineyards and wine-growing villages that line the riverbanks. At about the halfway point of the route you reach Nittel. In the charming wine village located at the foot of high dolomite and limestone cliffs, numerous winegrowers and catering businesses invite you to enjoy a glass of wine.

Via Wellen and Temmels you finally reach the community of Oberbillig, which is connected to Luxembourg’s Wasserbillig by a ferry. From there, it continues on flat paths into the town of Konz – your destination. With sights such as the open-air museum Roscheider Hof or the remains of a Roman imperial villa, the town at the Saar river mouth invites you on a sightseeing tour.

The bike tour ends at the Konz Mitte train station. From here, you take the train back to your starting point in Perl.
