General information

Directions

The route starts at the sports club parking lot (sports field) on Biebelhauser Street, at the foot of Ayler Kupp. From there, it initially goes a few meters along a lightly trafficked local road until you reach the service road at the foot of Ayler Kupp. The route continues on fully paved service roads into the vineyards.

This is a one-way route with a total length of 4.3 km. The outbound and return paths are identical. Over the length of the route, there are 20 meters of ascent and 10 meters of descent, with a gradient of 3 to 4% to overcome at the beginning of the service roads over a distance of about 200 meters. After that, the gradient is between 0 and 2%. There is a seating area for resting, which is shaded depending on the time of day but is not barrier-free accessible.

Between km 1.3 and 1.5, the gradient is between 4 and 5%. Once you reach the height of the service road, there are still gradients between 0 and 2% to overcome. The effort is rewarded with a wonderful view of the lower Saar valley. After a rest, you return along the same path to the parking lot. Unfortunately, there is no barrier-free toilet available. Except for the mentioned seating area, there are no other seating options along the route.

Please note that this hiking path is not a certified premium trail and does not have continuous signage. Moreover, the path partly runs on paved service roads and not on narrow trails.

Equipment

Please note: On the route, you will find a seating area for resting, but it is not barrier-free accessible. Since there are no dining options along the way, we recommend you bring sufficient packed food.

Tip

At the end of the route, we recommend a visit to the Kelterhaus in the center of Ayl (barrier-free).
