The circular route starts in the Saar-Moselle town of Konz. You cycle through the wine villages of the Konzer Tälchen, continue on the Saar bike path to Saarburg and back through the Mannebach valley.

Cycling experience, wine landscape, cultural highlights!

From the town of Konz, where the rivers Saar and Moselle merge, you cycle on the heights through the districts of Konz and over sunny paths through the wine villages of the Konzer Tälchen. Here you experience Konzer Tälchen in its wine-rich beauty. Further downhill towards Wiltingen, you reach the Wiltinger Saarbogen nature reserve.

Via the flat Saar bike path you reach the small town of Saarburg with many cultural highlights. We recommend a detour to the waterfall in the middle of the old town and a visit to the castle. The way back goes through the romantic Mannebach valley, further towards Tawern (tip: Roman temple complex and vicus) and back to Konz.

General information

Directions

You start at the Tourist Information Konz, Saarstr. 1.

Through "Brückenstraße", passing left of Konz main station, you reach the roundabout/ "Paul-Magar-Platz". Take the third exit. Follow the bike direction signs and turn right at the next intersection through the street "An der Lichtsmühle" and continue through "Lindenstraße" to the Konz indoor swimming pool. Here begins the bike path through the Konzer Tälchen, which owes its origin to the former Moselle course around the Kommlinger Berg.

Cycle past the Marienkapelle, over the "Falkensteinstraße" towards Niedermennig. Here a short detour to the oil mill is worthwhile. Through the town center ("Kapellenstraße" - "Zum Sonnenberg" - "Blumenwiese") you reach Obermennig ("Im Sonnenschein" - second street on the right "Zum Weiher").

Leaving the town, follow the bike path to Oberemmel on the left ("Agritiusstraße"). Turn left at Maximinerplatz. Via the street "Im Großengarten" you go downhill along the vineyards through the wine village Wiltingen. At Klosterbergstraße you cross the railway tracks and follow Kirchstraße and Saarstraße to the Saar bike path. After the underpass, turn left and follow the Saar bike path over the Schoden weir further upstream to the small town of Saarburg. Visit the historic old town with waterfall and Amuseum, bell foundry museum, mill museum or the castle above the town.

In Saarburg, cycle along Graf-Siegfried-Straße. Take the first exit at the roundabout at the Tourist Information/ Town Hall towards Mannebach (street: Kunoweiher). Through the Mannebach valley you follow L135 until shortly before Mannebach - then turn right onto street K112 and follow it towards Tawern. Before the town, turn left and reach Tawern, passing the Talbach hut. In Tawern (tip: Roman temple complex and vicus) you cycle through Bachstraße - Römerstraße - Kapellenstraße and follow the bike path past the cemetery and further through the forest to Konz-Könen. Via the street "An der Granahöhe" you reach the roundabout. Take the third exit and cycle through the streets Am Wiesenkreuz - Obermoselstraße - Konzerbrück and over the Saar bridge back to the starting point (tip: A few meters behind the Saar bridge is the confluence of Saar and Moselle).
