Small but challenging hike through the Hunsrück. After starting in Monzelfeld, the path first goes through open fields and meadows, then through the forest.

Varied: first elongated fields, then dense forest.

Insights into the hike:

The path starts in the center of Monzelfeld at a fountain that reminds of the mining that was carried out in Annenberg since the 16th century. Then it leads through the forests of the Hunsrück community and opens up magnificent views of meadows and forests. In the Hinterbachtal you encounter old mills and the Förster Kleinmann Hut - the namesake of this hiking trail. It continues into the small district of Annenberg. The mining of silver-bearing lead ore was the reason why in the 16th century, in the middle of the forest, the former mining settlement Annenberg was founded.

It is recommended to buy packed meals. There are good resting opportunities on benches along the route and at the Förster Kleinmann Hut. There is a pizzeria in the center of Monzelfeld.

General information

Directions

The route starts in the center of Monzelfeld at a fountain. First, you cross the street. Then you walk along Wasenstraße to the turn onto Mühlenstraße. You turn right onto the street and follow it out of the village. After passing through an underpass, you have a beautiful view of the picturesque Hunsrück landscape, with all its meadows, forests, mountains, and valleys. You then follow this winding gravel path down through the forest. At a fork in the path, the route leads you left into the valley to a brook, along which the path runs past three old mills. At the end of the path, turn left onto a street and after about 20m turn right onto a forest trail. On the left side is the Förster Kleinmann Hut, inviting you to rest, as well as several seating areas along the way. The path continues past the brook until it is crossed by a footbridge. At the end of the path, the route leads you via a short paved way into the small district of Annenberg. There you then go right, through a forest, uphill again. When you reach the top, you are rewarded again with a wonderful view over the meadows and forests of the Hunsrück. At a junction, where there is again a seating area, you go left until you reach a street. You must cross it and walk left on the pedestrian path. The next street that crosses must also be crossed, and you then come via a gentle slope onto a gravel path that, if you go right, leads back to Monzelfeld. Arriving in Monzelfeld, Wasenstraße takes you back to the starting point.
