You can expect a hike in the vineyard "Ayler Kupp", the Biebelhausen district, along the Saar Cycle Path, over the heights of Niederleuken to the Ferienpark Warsberg.

In the middle of the square Trier-Saarbrücken-Metz-Luxembourg lies on the western Saar shore the Rhineland-Palatinate community of Ayl. Here the world-famous Ayler Riesling wines grow on ice age terraces and steep slopes. Experience the steep vineyards and the picturesque valleys on the Saar with all your senses. Meet the friendly people and their traditions on foot, explore stories of legendary places and unique wines grown on 400 million-year-old slate. After your discovery tour with 16 informative boards, the lightness of the wine beckons: numerous wine taverns offer the incomparable, aromatic Saar Rieslings paired with delicious dishes.

Please note that this hiking trail is not a certified premium hiking trail and there is no continuous signage of the route. Furthermore, the path partly runs on paved farm roads and not on narrow paths.

Safety Guidelines

Please note that there are few dining options along the route around Ayl. Therefore, remember to bring sufficient backpack provisions.

Equipment

Please also wear sturdy footwear and bring sufficient backpack provisions.

Tip

A detour from Leuker Cross to the Kreuzberg viewing platform is worth it! Here you can enjoy a fantastic view of Saarburg and the vineyards.

Getting there

You can reach Ayl via the B51 and access the Biebelhausen district via Biebelhausener Straße

Parking

Free parking is available at the chapel in Biebelhausen.
