The new cycling route starts in Mülheim an der Mosel at Haus Haag (Tourist Information) and leads via Veldenz and Burgen to Gornhausen in the Hunsrück.
The cycling route leads away from the Mosel into the Hunsrück. It connects four towns that all belong to the Bernkastel-Kues holiday region: Mülheim an der Mosel, Burgen, Veldenz, and Gornhausen. Besides the impressive nature and great views, there are also some gems and treasures to admire. For example, the Villa Romana in Veldenz, the Leienfeldmühle in Gornhausen, and the many small bridges spanning the Frohnbach in Burgen. A trip to Veldenz Castle in the Hinterbachtal is also worthwhile.
Veldenz and Burgen, like Mülheim an der Mosel, are wine-growing towns with large vineyards. They are located in a dry valley of the Mosel, where the river had a bed and flowed millions of years ago. This dry valley encloses the Geisberg, a so-called loop hill near Mülheim an der Mosel. Even in Gornhausen, there is still a vineyard winery with vineyards in this area.
Between Mülheim and Burgen, you cycle without long climbs through vineyards, meadows, and fields. From Burgen, the ascent through the forest begins to the Hunsrück heights of Veldenz and Gornhausen. In Mülheim an der Mosel, there are connections to the Mosel cycle path and the Maare-Mosel cycle path on the opposite Mosel bank.
No special safety instructions are necessary.
Accessible with all types of bicycles.
Burgen is often called the Venice of the Mosel - because of the many bridges. Very worth seeing!

It is especially beautiful at the Mosel in autumn – because of the Indian summer.
