The hike "Around the Dhrönchen" involves ups and downs. Long sections through forests, scenic views into the Mosel valley, and from the high plateau of Kronberg await the hiker (CJ).

From Zummethöhe, you descend into the "Dhrönchen" (valley of the "small" Dhron) and initially follow the course of the "small" Dhron brook a bit. Soon it goes uphill into the Trittenheimer Forest. From here the path leads on to Papiermühle, a district of Neumagen-Dhron. From the basin in Papiermühle, you ascend to the high plateau of Kronberg and reach the riding farm "Hof Kron" with a place to eat. The route back to the car park is "for cooling down" (CJ).

New: Hiking map 1 : 25 000 Holiday region Schweich on the Roman Wine Route

ISBN: 978-3-944620-13-8.

Schweich (Mosel). With the latest MOSEL hiking map titled “Holiday region Schweich on the Roman Wine Route,” the Eifelverein adds the fourth hiking map in the series along the Mosel at a scale of
1 : 25 000. This hiking map series, published by the Eifelverein in cooperation with Mosellandtouristik and the tourist offices of the affected municipalities, will complete the Eifelverein's map series after publishing all MOSEL hiking maps, ending with the Mosel course in the southeast.

The new hiking map replaces the previously issued and now outdated hiking map “Neumagen-Dhron, Schweich on the Roman Wine Route” from the State Office for Surveying and Geobasis Information Rhineland-Palatinate with a slightly modified sheet cut. With the new hiking map, hikers in the Schweich holiday region will be reliably guided along Moselsteig, Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, Seitensprünge, and Traumschleifen routes. The Meulenwald hiking area is also depicted on the map.

With Moselsteig and Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, two long-distance trails awarded as "Germany's most beautiful hiking trails" run through the Schweich holiday region on the Roman Wine Route. Not only with the connected circular hiking trails named “Seitensprung” and “Traumschleife” does the holiday region form an extensive and varied network of hiking trails. This network is complemented by sections of the Eifelsteig with two partner routes, the Moselhöhenweg, additional main hiking trails of the Eifelverein, and numerous regional hiking trails also shown on the new map. Selected cycling routes and five mountain biking routes on the Roman Wine Route are also depicted.

Despite the extensive hiking and leisure offerings shown on the map, the core of this new hiking map consists of Moselsteig stages 5, 6, 7, and 8 and the five Seitensprünge "Longuicher Sauerbrunnen," "Zitronenkrämerkreuz," "Mehringer Schweiz," "Klüsserather Sagenweg," and "Moselachter." Particularly, these four Moselsteig stages and the five Seitensprünge are described bilingually in the inner part of the map, with elevation profiles providing indications of the hike's difficulty.

The basis of this detailed hiking map is the Official Topographic Map 1 : 25 000 from the State Office for Surveying and Geobasis Information Rhineland-Palatinate. The map costs a uniform price of 7.90 EUR and is available at the Tourist Information Roman Wine Route, Brückenstraße 46, 54338 Schweich, at Mosellandtouristik, in bookstores, and of course also at the Eifelverein e. V., Stürtzstraße 2 - 6, 52349 Düren. The map can also be ordered online at any time at www.eifelverein.de . ISBN: 978-3-944620-13-8.
