Uniquely beautiful views into the Moselle and Dhron valleys and a very varied diversity of the Moselle cultural landscape await the hiker.
The circular route connects the beautiful Moselle viewpoints Zummethöhe & Vogelsang with some Trittenheim sights, such as the ferry towers of the Trittenheim bridge. The very good gastronomy offer in the village center of Trittenheim as well as the possibility of stopping over at the Zummethöhe complete the route.
The very varied circular hiking route leads the hiker from the village of Trittenheim across the Moselle bridge, past the medieval ferry towers over the "old Carral", into the well-known vineyard area of the "Trittenheimer Apotheke" and to the viewpoint "auf Scheckel". After a short climb through a small wooded area, you reach the Kronberg and the Trittenheim barbecue hut, which invites you to take a short break.
On the Moselle ridge, the landscape is characterized by cattle pastures, orchards, and forest of the adjacent Hunsrück. The path continues over the height into the side valley of the small Dhron with wonderful views of the "Dhrönchen", where the writer Stefan Andres was born.
Upon reaching the Zummethöhe, the hiker is once again presented with the Moselle valley in all its beauty, the panoramic view over the Moselle loop of Trittenheim, which was voted the "Most Beautiful Wine View in Germany" in 2016. The descent from the Zummethöhe via the old Carral leads the hiker back to Trittenheim.
Sturdy footwear.
The Zummethöhe viewpoint with enchanting views of the Moselle loop near Trittenheim and Leiwen was voted the most beautiful wine view of the Moselle in 2016. At the most beautiful spot of the viewpoint, a stele was erected where you can take wonderful photos.
Via a short detour of approx. 100 m, you reach the viewpoint including the stele and a resting area.
Access is via the B 53 to the center of Trittenheim.

New: Hiking map 1 : 25,000 Holiday Region Schweich on the Roman Wine Road
ISBN: 978-3-944620-13-8.
Schweich (Moselle). With the latest MOSEL hiking map entitled "Holiday Region Schweich on the Roman Wine Road", the Eifelverein supplements its series of hiking maps on the Moselle with the now fourth hiking map at a scale of
1 : 25,000. This series of hiking maps, published by the Eifelverein in cooperation with Moselland tourism and the tourist information offices of the affected municipalities, will complete the Eifelverein's map series after the completion of all MOSEL hiking maps with the Moselle section in the southeast.
The new hiking map replaces, with slightly changed sheet cuts, the previously issued and now outdated hiking map "Neumagen-Dhron, Schweich on the Roman Wine Road" published by the State Office for Surveying and Geobasis Information Rhineland-Palatinate. The hiker will be reliably guided through the holiday region Schweich hiking tours along the Moselle Trail, Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, side-trips, and dream loops. The Meulenwald hiking area is also shown on the map.
Both the Moselle Trail and the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, twice awarded as "Germany's most beautiful hiking trail", lead through the holiday region Schweich on the Roman Wine Road. Not only with the connected circular hikes named "side-trip" and "dream loop", the holiday region Schweich on the Roman Wine Road forms an extensive and varied hiking trail network. This network is supplemented by sections of the Eifelsteig with two partner trails, the Moselhöhenweg, further main hiking trails of the Eifelverein, and numerous regional hiking trails also included on the new hiking map. Selected are also some cycling trails as well as five mountain bike routes on the Roman Wine Road shown on the map.
Despite the extensive hiking and leisure offerings shown on the map, the core of this new hiking map is formed by the Moselle Trail stages 5, 6, 7, and 8 and the five side-trips "Longuicher Sauerbrunnen", "Zitronenkrämerkreuz", "Mehringer Schweiz", "Klüsserather Sagenweg", and "Moselachter". Particularly, the four Moselle Trail stages and the five side-trips are described bilingually in the map's inner section and show not only text but also elevation profiles and hiking difficulty indications.
The basis for this detailed hiking map is the official topographic map 1 : 25,000 of the State Office for Surveying and Geobasis Information Rhineland-Palatinate. The map costs a uniform price of €7.90 and is available at the Tourist Information Roman Wine Road, Brückenstraße 46, 54338 Schweich, at Moselland Tourism and in bookstores, as well as, of course, from the Eifelverein e.V., Stürtzstraße 2 - 6 in 52349 Düren. The map can also be ordered online around the clock via the internet at www.eifelverein.de . ISBN: 978-3-944620-13-8.
