This extended walk shows that the vineyard is not only home to grapevines. But besides biodiversity, you can also enjoy great views here.
Along the old Roman road and the new themed trail at the Trarbacher Schlossberg, numerous plant and animal species of the steep vineyard slopes can be discovered. Combined with the cultural-historical buildings, they are witnesses of the millennia-old steep slope viticulture, which has contributed significantly to the biological diversity of the Moselle region.
In the Art Nouveau town of Traben-Trarbach, the path starts at Brückentor and goes through Brückenstraße. Turn left onto Brandweg before the Indian restaurant, be careful as the turn is quite inconspicuous. Continue on narrow paths to the vineyard area "Schlossberg." Here, you walk in a loop past information boards, vineyard walls, and a life tower up to the war memorial. From there, there is an ascent to Grevenburg. From Grevenburg, the descent into the valley begins on a winding forest path, at the end of which you return to the starting point.
The route can be easily managed in comfortable shoes. Especially in summer, it can get very hot in the vineyard areas, so please remember to bring enough water.
You can stop for a visit at Grevenburg when the flag is raised.
