On the digital scavenger hunt “The Secret of Silvanus, the Missing Forest Spirit,” an approximately 2-kilometer loop trail awaits you, featuring exciting puzzles, tricky challenges, and interesting discoveries all centered on the theme of “the forest.”
Download the "Actionbound" app to your phone beforehand. The rally is free to play. If you've downloaded the content in advance, you can play the Bound even offline.
The Bound starts in Kasel, above the Nell Dominican Winery in Kasel. A path leads into the forest between the winery and the Pauliner Hof, and you’ll find the starting Bound at the next intersection! Once you scan it, the exciting scavenger hunt begins. You’ll be asked to find and scan codes. Once you’ve done that, exciting questions and puzzles centered on the theme of “forest” await you!

If you’re hopping along the beautiful trails so quickly that you miss a code, don’t worry! You can either go back a bit and look for it, or skip entering the required code at the next station! You can still answer the questions!

Directions
You'll start at the intersection in the forest above the Nell Dominican Winery. Scan the start code there, and off you go!
To find the first code, please follow the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig trail toward Waldrach! Tip: You don’t have to go very far—just look for the yellow ribbon!
Once you’ve solved everything at this station, head out in search of the next codes! Here, too, you can use the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig trail signs to guide you until just before Station 8, “Be Quiet”!
You’ll walk across the beautiful meadows with wonderful views of the vineyards, then turn right and uphill at the intersection by the hunting blind!
After that, continue uphill to the next station. Then, at a crossroads, keep an eye out for a gate! Keep going uphill!
You’ll find the remaining stations until you reach the intersection with the beautiful bench. Which way do you go now? Here’s a hint: no more uphill!
Did you complete the Bound? Congratulations—now the trail simply leads you straight back to the starting point! You can pick up a small reward afterward during the regular business hours of the Ruwer Tourist Information Office!
Safety Guidelines
As a general rule, entering the forest and walking on the trails is at your own risk.
Depending on the season and weather conditions, some sections of the trails require extra sure-footedness. Therefore, please wear clothing appropriate for the season and weather, as well as hiking boots with adequate tread.
Equipment
A smartphone or tablet (iOS or Android) with the Actionbound app installed. An internet connection to download the content before starting and to upload the results at the end.
Tip
Keep an eye out for the little yellow ribbons! They’ll give you a good clue as to where the next code is hidden!
Combine the scavenger hunt with a little picnic—either in the woods on one of the benches along the trail, or right by the Ruwer River at the bocce court once you’ve successfully completed the hunt. You’ll find the bocce court right next to the bike path!

Parking is available in Kasel around the Ruwer Tourist Information Center.
