The church was built in 1732, because of its dilapidation was rebuilt in 1885 - 1894 in a gothic style. Only the bell tower is retained in its original form.
Alf was already an independent parish in the 13th century. In a document from the year 1144, the place is referred to as "Bischofs-Alve." The patron saint of the church is Saint Remigius, who was mentioned as such in 1337.
The church built in 1732 was reconstructed in the neo-Gothic style at its current location from 1885 to 1894 due to its dilapidation. Today, only the bell tower of the old church remains. St. Remigius Church was renovated again in 1994. The organ by Klais was installed in 1897. The Gothic baptismal font from the old church, made of basalt lava, is used for baptisms. Bone fragments of Saint Remigius are kept inside the altar. The memorial column in the center of the church square commemorates the altar place of the old church.
Since September 2011, it has been one of the 10 parishes in the parish community “Zeller Hamm.”
