Interdisciplinary staging as a communal act
In the midst of the picturesque landscape of the Moselle, above the wine village of Pünderich, nestled between vineyards and the edge of the forest, a truly special event unfolds: the Oben Air Festival. What makes this festival so unique is not only the breathtaking setting or the attention to detail, but above all the commitment of all the diverse volunteers, consisting of young and old people from the region who come together to support this voluntary project.
The Oben Air Festival is more than just a music and art event. It is a celebration of interdisciplinary art, where talented artists from various genres and disciplines come together to present a wide range of creative expressions. From live music and performances to visual art, poetry, films, and installations – there is something for everyone that will make their heart race. Every aspect of the festival is carefully planned and executed in community to offer visitors an unforgettable experience. Whether it’s a self-built stage in the midst of a forest or continuously rotating and illuminated wheels of every kind, powered by an old drilling machine. What you see at the Oben Air Festival are the results of weeks of collaborative creative phases, dominated by "old wood" (discarded pallets, vine stocks, and much more), almost crazily twisted screws, and sometimes a bit of paint. What emerges are not just decorative elements for a festival, but individual pieces full of passion. Creating a space collectively and artistically without the pressure of consumption and instructions is what characterizes the community effort of the Oben Air Festival.
During the festival days, more than a dozen music acts, authors, and filmmakers join the Oben Air family and transform the interdisciplinary Pünderich forest into a gem of community and culture.
The air up here is getting thinner!
