"On the Other Side" tells the story of six people whose lives are fatefully intertwined. Six lives in different worlds. Paths that cross without touching. Only a loss brings all destinies together that were inevitably connected from the very beginning.
The Bremen retiree Ali (Tuncel Kurtiz) pays the prostitute Yeter (Nursel Köse) substantial sums to keep him company at home. His son, German studies professor Nejat (Baki Davrak), befriends her and, after a tragic accident, sets out to find her daughter in Turkey. Her name is Ayten (Nurgül Yeşilçay), she is a political activist and goes underground in Germany, where she captivates Lotte (Patrycia Ziolkowska), who comes from a good family. Lotte's mother (Hanna Schygulla) is not pleased at all.
After his critical and audience success "Head-On," Fatih Akin takes a more contemplative tone in the second part of the "Love, Death, and Devil" trilogy. His journey between cultures features a fabulous ensemble.
