A must for all train spotters with an almost continuous view of the Moselle Wine Railway with selected vantage points where the Moselle Wine Railway passes.
The second stage of the Moselle Wine Railway Hiking Trail leads over the heights of Mont Royals, almost always with a view into the Moselle valley. This gives you great panoramic views of the Moselle Wine Railway, nestled in vineyards and idyllic wine villages. On information boards at selected vantage points you will find the timetable times when the Moselle Wine Railway passes by - ideal for memorable snapshots.
The stage starts with a vigorous climb from Kövenig station to the Mont Royal vantage point with far-reaching views over the Moselle, wine and Moselle Wine Railway. You then continue hiking on the Moselle heights through forests and between vineyards towards Reil. On the way, you will come across the viewpoints 50th parallel, the Julius-Treis-Hütte, as well as the Little Viaduct at the entrance to Reil.
Depending on the weather, sturdy shoes and trekking poles are recommended.
Allow a little more time in Reil and discover the picturesque alleys and traditional Straußwirtschaften.
