On this bike route, the total 115 km-long Saar bike path is ridden on the last 20 km from Serrig to Konz and accompanied by listening experiences from the Lauschtour.
With the Saar bike path, cycling enthusiasts will find an attractive bike route amid a wonderful environment with extensive forests, bizarre rock formations, and sunlit vineyards. The Saar is a river with French flair, and the bike path leads family-friendly along a completely flat 4-star quality bike route.
On this route, you cycle the last 20 km from Serrig to the Saar-Moselle town of Konz.
A total of 4 listening points of the "Listening Points on the Saar Bike Path" line the route and are good reasons to get off the bike and take a closer look and listen.
Here’s how it works: Download the smartphone app “Lauschtour” from the App Store or Google Play, then select the Lauschtour “Listening Points on the Saar Bike Path.” At the start, the contents are saved on your smartphone so that no internet connection is necessary along the way.
The route starts at Serrig train station and leads via Bahnhofstraße and Saarstraße to the river bike path. Here you will also find the first listening point. Opposite Serrig, high above the Saar on a projecting sandstone rock, lies the hermitage of Kastel-Staadt. The burial place of the blind King Johann of Bohemia is a masterpiece of the famous Prussian architect Schinkel and today an important national monument.
Then it continues towards Saarburg. On the right side of the Saar, you reach medieval Saarburg with its hill castle, the medieval old town, and the famous waterfall in the center (listening point).
The bike route continues past vineyards to Schoden. At the dam, you will learn interesting facts at the third listening point about the Wiltinger Saarbogen, the famous vineyards, and viticulture. You cycle further over the dam wall to the Kanzem barrage. Here you cross the Saar and cycle on the left side to the destination—the Saar estuary in Konz. There, at the last listening point, you will learn interesting things about the city of Konz.
To ensure the bike tour runs smoothly, please consider any possible detours or closures during planning.
